About Nevermore

The oldest and largest university for outcasts in North America

Nathaniel Faulkner, a psychic scholar, founded Nevermore in 1791 as an academy where outcasts could study safely and learn to master their abilities. For two centuries it was the Academy, known for its gothic buildings, its Poe traditions and its secrets.

After the Dort scandal, the Regents dissolved the secondary program, vetted the staff and took over the closed Willow Hill grounds. Nevermore reopened as a university, with room for far more students, departments, residences, clubs and societies. Veterans still call themselves Academy people, and the Old Campus keeps the nickname.

Only outcasts may enroll. Normies may work here with approval. The policy that barred Hydes for decades is under review. The university is lively, a little unsettled and short a chancellor.

Lake Nevermore

The boathouse, Raven Island, Crackstone’s Crypt and the Lupin Cages. Home of the Poe Cup and, in spring, the unofficial Midnight Regatta.

Waterside

Willow Hill Annex

The old Willow Hill grounds, now university land: ruins, a new wing and one wing that remains sealed. Students report singing here at night.

Annex · Restricted wing

Founders’ Hill

A mausoleum and the best view of the campus. The ground is quiet and visitors tend to keep it that way.

How the story runs

You are the protagonist. You are not assumed to be Wednesday or a detective. Quiet days work as well as dangerous ones.
Canon is background.Follow it or change it. The bot will not argue with you for departing from it.
The story responds to you.Romance, rivalry and conflict happen only when you take them up.
Consequences carry over.Promises, debts and injuries are remembered. People change gradually.
Characters know what they have seen. They do not act on information they could not have.
Your latest instruction wins.It takes priority over the lore.
